How to reach TOFROM YAESU from Tokyo Station—and what’s open now

Choose the Yaesu route for Shinkansen, JR or Marunouchi Line arrivals, with published dining hours and the next TOFROM YAESU openings.
For JR arrivals, aim for the Yaesu Underground Central Gate. From the Marunouchi Line, use the North Underground Passage to cross to Yaesu. From a Shinkansen, head toward Yaesu; your route may pass through the conventional JR concourse before you leave the station gates. The routes converge in the underground shopping network connected to TOFROM YAESU TOWER. TOFROM’s access guide confirms the connection; Yaechika’s directions identify the station gates and cross-station passages.
The Tower opened on September 10, 2026, but the advertised 68 shops and restaurants were not an all-at-once opening: the developer scheduled 55 Tower tenants for launch day, with other Tower shops and THE FRONT tenants following in stages. Tokyo Tatemono’s opening announcement sets out that distinction.
Opening schedules and published hours checked October 30, 2026.
Choose your route by arrival line
“Tokyo Station direct” means an underground walking connection—not a doorway beside every platform. Use these routes to avoid an unnecessary trip to the wrong side of the station.
JR commuter lines: Yaesu Underground Central Gate
Follow signs for Yaesu Underground Central Gate / 八重洲地下中央口 and leave the JR paid area there. The gate connects directly to Yaechika, the Yaesu underground shopping mall. This is the useful default when you want to stay underground rather than exit at street level and descend again. Yaechika lists the gate as directly connected.
Once in Yaechika, use signs and the access map for TOFROM YAESU TOWER. A second useful destination label is Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu Underground A / 地下A, which is in the same building. Do not follow Underground B: that is in Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, a different building. The bus operator’s access guide distinguishes the two.
If you have already emerged through a ground-floor Yaesu North, Central or South gate, you need not go back through the ticket gates. Descend to Yaechika outside the paid area and continue from there.
Shinkansen: head toward Yaesu, then join the underground route
Follow signs toward Yaesu. If your route takes you through a Shinkansen transfer gate into the conventional JR paid area, continue with the JR route above and leave at Yaesu Underground Central Gate. Passing a transfer gate is not the same as leaving the station’s paid area.
If you leave the rail gates at the ground-floor Yaesu North, Central or South exit area, take the stairs or escalator down to Yaechika and follow the Tower/Underground A route. The bus operator’s printable access map shows this ground-floor-to-underground approach, including the Tokaido–Sanyo Shinkansen side.
There is no single fastest gate for every Shinkansen arrival: your operator, carriage position and whether you have already entered the JR concourse change the sensible choice. The useful rule is stay on the Yaesu side, rather than crossing to Marunouchi and then retracing your route. For the wider gate layout, see our Tokyo Station navigation guide.
Marunouchi Line: North Underground Passage, outside JR gates
After leaving the Metro paid area, head toward the Marunouchi Underground North Gate area, then take North Underground Passage / 北地下自由通路 toward Yaesu. This is the public cross-station passage, not a route through JR’s paid concourse. Continue into the Yaesu underground network and follow the Tower/Underground A directions.
Yaechika recommends the North Underground Passage as one of the routes from Marunouchi; the Tokyo Station City map labels it in English. Yaechika quotes about ten minutes from Marunouchi Line Tokyo Station to the mall—not to your restaurant table. Allow additional time for the final approach, changing floors and finding the shop.
What’s open now, and what comes later?
The commercial zone spans the Tower’s basement through fourth floor, with additional space in THE FRONT’s basement through second floor. The Tower itself is 51 storeys and approximately 250 metres tall; that does not mean the shopping route extends through the whole building. The developer’s project details separate the commercial floors from the wider development.
The current shop directory lists basement food and coffee options, ground-floor restaurants and bars, and the YAESU Tokyo-kai / 東京界 restaurant zone on the second floor.
For the next phases, the same directory still marks:
- Jiji & Baba, Tower 1F: opening this winter.
- TOFUDO and Shimbashi Yakiton Makochan, THE FRONT BF: winter 2026 openings planned.
- EDO TOKYO KIRARI, THE FRONT 1F and 2F: March 2027 opening planned.
There is also a nearer addition: BERTH COFFEE is scheduled to open November 1, 2026, on THE FRONT 1F, according to its official opening notice. Do not treat THE FRONT as either fully open or entirely unavailable; check the individual tenant.
Three useful stops, with hours

| Starbucks | Tower BF | Weekdays 7am–10pm; weekends and holidays 8am–10pm | Coffee without heading up to the restaurant floors |
| Yaesu Kitchen | Tower 1F | Lunch 11am–3pm, last order 2:30pm; dinner 3pm–11:30pm, last order 11pm | A seated meal or craft beer; reservations accepted |
Yaesu Kitchen and Yaesu Highball Bar had September 10 opening dates, according to their operator’s announcement. The Highball Bar listing gives unusually late hours: 11am–5am the following morning Monday–Saturday, and 11am–11:30pm Sunday.
Late restaurant hours do not guarantee an open underground route. The bus operator warns that Yaechika passage choices narrow between 5–6am and from 11pm until the last bus, with greater restrictions after midnight. For a late visit or departure, use its late-night access directions rather than relying on the daytime connection. Its street-level alternative leaves the Yaesu exits and crosses Sotobori-dori at a pedestrian crossing toward TOFROM YAESU TOWER; use that approach when the underground passages are restricted.
